Lean Six Sigma for Leaders eBook
Are you thinking about starting a Lean or Six Sigma initiative?
Lean Six Sigma for Leaders is not a lesson, nor is it a case study. It is not a “How-to” manual or a proclamation telling a leader “What-to–do”. It is simply an enabler, providing a leader the opportunity to lead.
Is this a new initiative within your organization or department?
Experts estimate that 70% – 75% of change initiatives fail to meet the expectations of the stakeholders. Unfortunately, the majority of those can be attributed to a failure to understand, and properly deal with, the people side of change.
Do you want to understand the basics?
Lean Six Sigma is not a complex process if you understand the theory behind it. But to begin any journey you need a starting point and a solid base of knowledge to provide direction. Leaders do not need to know the intricacies of DMAIC, DMADV and Variation. They do not need to know when to use Binary Logistic Regression.

This straightforward and concise book was created from a one – day Lean Six Sigma for Leaders program presented by author, Steve C. Wilson. Steven has over 20 years of experience applying quality improvement tools, methodologies, and principles in a variety of industries that include automotive, healthcare, logistics, distribution, education, and numerous manufacturing venues.

Learn from the Grapevine
That communication which tells people impacted by the change, that “this is the right thing to do”. Every organization has “break-room leaders” who, although they do not have the official title of leader, they are leaders none the less. Their words and actions carry a weight that far exceeds those “coming down from the mountain”. These leaders use another more powerful medium, the grapevine.
The reality is that most employees will be more sensitive to what comes from this grapevine then to that which comes from the official talking points. What do you as a leader do about that? Two things: Make sure that the message flowing through the grapevine is aligned with that which is flowing from the leaders and make sure that the training you are providing reinforces the message.
It is imperative that the message flowing through this grapevine is aligned with the message coming from the leadership and that it is reinforced by the training being provided.
Organizations need to provide people with what they will need to know before they successfully implement the desired changes. They need to be trained on how to be successful in the new system. They need training so they know they are safe.
